This 2011 guide includes 563 of the best pubs serving good food in the UK and Ireland and of these, 84 are new additions.

The guide is divided into regions and counties, and each region is preceded by a brief overview of that area followed by a map showing the location of each pub – ideal for planning a journey or holiday.

Every pub has a full page entry with a colour picture and descriptive text giving an insight into its character. Other essential information includes contact information, opening times, location, prices, typical dishes and the beer they serve.

All the pubs in the guide have been selected for the quality of their cooking. However, a number of them deserve a special mention as they boast at least one extra quality that makes them particularly special. This could be the delightful setting, the charm and character, the excellent service, the overall value for money offered or the exceptional cooking. To help identify these we highlight them with our inspectors’ favourites Bibendum stamp. There are 110 of them in this year’s guide.

Commenting on the evolution of pub food and its rise in popularity, Derek Bulmer, the guide’s editor said: ‘The standard of cooking in British and Irish pubs keeps getting better and better. We are seeing a growing confidence in our culinary heritage, greater use of local, seasonal ingredients and a rediscovery of regional specialities’.

Larkins Bar & Restaurant, Garrykennedy, has made it into the Michelin ‘Eating out in Pubs 2008’ Guide. It isone of only sixteen Irish Pubsfeatured in the 550 best dining Pubs in Britain and Ireland.

The crucial factor for selection in the guide is the quality of the food served. Michelin inspectors ensure that every pub listed reaches the requested gastronomic standards.

This istruly a great achievementfor this owner/managed premises. Only in business since March 2006 Maura and Cormac Boyle and their Head Chef, Ms. Olive Hickey have steered Larkins towardsgood food and top class hospitality.

This couple were also recently accepted into the Good Food Ireland circle.

Larkinscommitment to sourcing as much Irish Local foods as possiblewas a definite criteria in receiving this accolade.

Larkins have also this year been recipients of the highly desirable recommendation by the well known Georgina Campbell’s Guide.

Maura and Cormac, local Garrykennedy residents bought Larkins in 2006. Their aim is to present the best of Tipperary hospitality and food to both the local and the many visitors to the region.

Larkins attract functions and groups from a 40 mile radius.

The Lake Tourism Business is extremely important to Larkins as it gives Maura and Cormac an opportunity toshowcase Local Food and musicto the many visitors to Garrykennedy.

The Boyle Family has successfully turned the business into one ofTipperary’s premier Food and Music venues.

At the moment Maura is busy preparing Christmas menus for the party season!!
